Hands on Math
All students learn in different ways. It is important to acknowledge this and give all students opportunities. Many students learn best when they are involved in hands on activities. This is very important in math. Doing hands on activities in math helps give students real meaning to the concepts that are being taught. This website has lots of great hands on activities that I will be using in the classroom to help reinforce math concepts.
Kentucky 2nd Grade Math Standards
Here is a link to the Kentucky Department of Education 2nd Grade Math Standards. This is what your child should learn in my classroom or any other 2nd grade classroom in Kentucky. I use this to plan my lessons and classroom activities. As a parent, this is a good resource to know about so you can know what your child is learning, should be learning, or will be learning.
